I honestly thought that Google had Blogger shutdown, but it's still around. Don't blame me for thinking this, because Google, in their effort to save money, shut down custom domain email, business apps (you have to pay for it now), Google Sites (the Blogger alternative), RSS newsfeed, Google Photos (no longer unlimited, now you have to pay for additional storage).
Just based on their previous actions, the Blogger shutdown (or you might have to pay) might not be far behind.
Anyway, I really did think Blogger was killed. So I typed in blogger.com and it automatically logged me into my account. I haven't used this account since 2007, since I moved over to Typepad, which offered more customization and I just like the platform a little more. The other alternative was Wordpress, but they were restrictive... unless you pay for storage and features.
Since I have a lot of time on my hands on my long extended hibernation, I poked around Blogger and thought perhaps I do write about games or other things of interests...
On December 1st, I went to Florida to live in an unfurnished home. The interior was a mess, due to a hurricane that damaged the roof - and so the floors had water damage. The roof was fixed last year, but everything else needed to be worked on. The water pipes were working, but there's no hot water. All the doors had to be installed (I learned how to wood chip using a chisel). Electricity is now working (we were using a generator). The floors are now rugged or vinyl. Basically, the whole month of December was dedicated to making the house liveable.
For a while, I was doing all my work on the floor or on my airbed. Now I bought a table and computer chair (from IKEA), and I even have a cup holder at the desk. I only wish I had brought my real computer from home. I only brought my laptop, which I am depending on everything - from gaming to writing. I should have brough an external harddrive or my NAS!! I can't believe how much I rely on my data (that I don't have access to due to my laptop's small storage).
I will be back in Minneapolis in March, and hopefully I'll start thinking about moving and what to bring back to Florida. It's been pretty nice here, except for all the weird Tornado or Tide warnings.
